I ♥ design : How your environment affects you.

Ever since I left college, I had a very strong sense of how design works—scale, texture, color, structure. The first thing I do when I step into a place is judge how well designed it is—whether it be interior architecture alone or the way it was decorated and designed. Design is my life, and I use my experience with interiors in my daily life as a fashion designer—scale, texture, color, structure.

As a Sagittarius, I need change, and I need it often. That is why decorating is such a fun hobby for me—I can see my style evolve and change often. When I viewed my studio apartment through a broker in NY (never again, I tell ya), the first thing I did was ask him for a floorplan. When I got home, I actually re-did the floorplan on AutoCAD, and began arranging my life in New York. I love waking up everyday to a beautiful space, and I think (and tell people) all the time how it affects my work—because it truly does.

Interior design however, is not for everyone! It took me years of study, poring through countless books, magazines, and resources, to gain the eye that I have today. You can look online, or tear a page in a magazine, and copy it—but it takes a true designer to understand how to transform and create a harmonious space. THAT is why people hire decorators & designers. I’ve found that people don’t take designers & decorators seriously, but really—design IS everything. I do think however, that people who really pay attention to detail, and are super creative, have the natural ability to design a space.

Attached are the most recent photos of my work and living space here in New York—which is actually ALWAYS under construction. Mind you—this is design on a budget. I am pretty sure it would look completely different if I didn’t have one.
